Day Trip To Roveniemi Lapland - 14th December 2014

Today we travelled to meet Father Christmas at his home in Lapland Finland.
It truly was a magical and unforgettable day.

Waiting in the departure lounge at East Midlands Airport.  Do you like my hat?  We were given them at check in.

About to board.  I was so excited.

Hooray!  I'm going to Lapland.

Having breakfast on the aeroplane.

Hot Dog (Carl) and Rory entertained us on the way, singing, playing games, and  competitions.

Having a look at all the ice and snow.

Rovaneimi Airport, we've arrived.

Walking to our tour bus.

We were greeted by our elf for the day, then given our thermal suits to change into.

I loved the snow.

Let the fun begin.

About to go in the 'kota' tepee for a traditional Lappish  story.

We sat by the fire, I was mesmerised by it.

It was really cosy and warm.

This Finnish lady told us about how people came to live in Lapland and about Finnish traditions.

Can you see the black marks on our foreheads?  We all got marked with a  stick from the fire to symbolise reindeer's.

Next we went husky sleighing.  It was my favourite.  It was so fast, and the dogs were so excited.  I will post a video later.

I thought it was great when we nearly hit a tree.

Mummy and me sliding down the hill.

Next we went and banged on Santa's Door and woke him up.  He invited us all in.

He told us some stories and we sang some songs.

Then we took it in turn to tell him what we would like for Christmas.

He asked me if I had been good, and told me to remember to leave out some cookies and carrots.

I told him I would like a 3DS and he said he would check  with the elves.
(video to follow)

Father Christmas gave me this early gift.

He remembered my favourite colour was red.

Reindeer sleighing next.

It was very comfy.

We had prancer pulling us.

Dancer was behind us.

Then we played with the elves.

Ice hockey.

Can you see me sledging down the hill?  It was so much fun :-)

Sleighing and tobogganing, and hot berry juice to drink.

Lunch next.  You can still see Daddy's reindeer antlers on his forehead.

Back on our tour bus.

On our way to Santa's Village.

The blue light is the Arctic Circle line.

This sign post tells you how far away you are from all the major cities in the world.

Father Christmas's Post office, where all his letters arrive.

I wrote and sent two postcards.

One for my school and one for Nanny and Grandad.

Look at all those presents.

Crossing into the Arctic Circle!.

Sliding down an ice slide.  It was very fast!

Ho ho ho

Back at the airport, and its snowing.

What an amazing day!

Flying home dreaming about my adventure.  Mummy and Daddy got to see the Northern lights.

My passport stamp.

My gift from Father Christmas.

I few things I brought from the gift shops in Santa's village.

My certificate for crossing into the Arctic Circle.
